Lucas was appointed Executive Vice President (EVP): Processing, SA operations on 1 October 2025, bringing over 25 years of experience in the Mining sector. Before joining Sibanye-Stillwater, he held senior operational roles across multiple mining and processing organisations, including Bushveld Minerals, South32, BHP and Rio Tinto. These leadership roles focused on operational excellence and overseeing complex mining, smelter and processing facilities.
Lucas began his career as a Plant Metallurgist and Supervisor at Richards Bay Minerals, Rio Tinto. Thereafter, he held senior roles that included General Manager and Asset President roles for BHP Hillside and Bayside aluminium smelters in KwaZulu-Natal, as well as Mozal in Mozambique. He was appointed as Vice President of Operations for South32’s Manganese South Africa, overseeing the integrated business. Prior to Lucas’s appointment at Sibanye-Stillwater he was the Group Executive of Operations for Bushveld Minerals overseeing their mining and processing operations.
