Sibanye-Stillwater has in recent years diversified its portfolio with significant European acquisitions of interests in green metal projects and operations.
Through its subsidiary Keliber Lithium (Pty) Ltd, Sibanye-Stillwater acquired an initial 30.29% shareholding in Keliber by way of a phased equity investment. This holding was increased further when the Group exercised its pre-emptive right to increase its shareholding to 50% plus 1 share on 29 July 2022 for a cash consideration of €146 million.
In February 2022, Sibanye-Stillwater successfully concluded the €85 million transaction to acquire French mining group Eramet SA’s Sandouville hydrometallurgical nickel processing facilities near Le Havre, France’s second largest industrial port.
